Model history

In the timeline of the BMW Z series, the Z1, which was produced from 1989 to 1991 and only in small numbers, was followed by the so-called Z3. With the Z3 launched in 1995, BMW brought out a roadster for everyone - the long, sloping two-seater had its own unmistakable body design. Initially, 1.8 and 1.9-liter four-cylinder engines were on offer, followed later by various in-line six-cylinder engines and a coupé version. In total, almost 280,000 units rolled off the production line at the American plant in Spartanburg - the Z3 was built exclusively there.
