Model history

The Porsche 996, introduced in 1998, marked a significant change for the 911 series by switching from an air-cooled to a water-cooled six-cylinder boxer engine. This made it possible to comply with fuel consumption and emissions regulations. The body became larger and more comfortable, with different models such as Coupé, Targa and Cabriolet. Power output ranged from 221 kW (300 hp) to 355 kW (483 hp) with turbocharging.
