Presented for the first time at the IAA in 1987, the roadster called the BMW Z1 looked like a car of the future: even within the BMW family, it looked like a foreign body with its angular headlights and the non-chrome-plated pair of kidneys in the radiator grille. Its technical framework with sandwich floor, aluminum chassis and plastic body including retractable doors was pure science fiction. The tried and tested was used for this when it came to drive: The 2.5-liter in-line six-cylinder engine, which is known from the E30 325i, was planted in the engine compartment of the Z1 Roadster. In its short construction period, only 8,000 units of the Z1 rolled off the production line: it was the founder of a roadster series that leads via Z8 to today's Z4.
One of a total of 8,000 units of the Z1 produced will now be released for auction in this auction. The roadster from the year of construction 1990 with the FIN WBABA91010AL03269 ran continuously in Germany and has been with the last owner since 2010. In total, this Z1 has 5 holders. In addition to 3 vehicle keys, a history can also be presented, which consists of an existing checkbook, among other things. A Classic Data report from August 2018 is available, in which the BMW was awarded the overall condition grade 2 and a replacement value of 62,000 has been certified. The recently completed TÜV is valid until April 2024, this Z1 is not yet in possession of an H-approval.
A colour called "original green" adorns the plastic body of this BMW Roadster: After consultation with the current owner, he stated that a small crack on the fender had been repainted at the front right – otherwise the car presents itself in its first paint. Due to its mostly first lacquer dress and the age of now over 30 years, this Z1 is in a clean condition with only a few traces of use. The soft top is kept black, which has a defect in the soft top fabric on the driver's side – no cracks can be seen in the area of the plastic rear window. A modification is a stainless steel exhaust system, which provides a good sound backdrop when driving. However, the original exhaust system is still available.
Continental tyres from 2008 in the dimension 225/45 on the front and rear axles are mounted on original 16-inch 6-spoke BMW alloy wheels, which are in perfect condition. The brake system, like the chassis, can be found in a TÜV-compliant condition. Modifications deviating from the original condition are not to be mentioned in these areas.
After the doors have been shut down, access to the interior of the BMW Z1 is released: according to the current owner, the iconic colour scheme of the interior has already been completely re-upholstered (except for the seats). The sports leather seats thus have some patina, but are neither worn nor worn. Except for minimal signs of use inside this roadster, the car can be seen in good and well-kept condition. In addition to a power steering, there is also a central locking, electric windows, ABS and a Blaupunkt accessory radio as equipment features in this BMW. Furthermore, there is an electronic immobilizer on board the Z1. The function of the doors as well as the soft top is given without restrictions.
The tachometer in the speedometer has an orange hand, all other round instruments have a white hand. On the speedometer, a mileage of 135,900 can be read, which can be traced by a partially guided checkbook and by many saved invoices and receipts. All displays in the interior work perfectly.
In the engine compartment, a dome brace catches the eye: this provides additional stiffness of this Z1. The roadster is powered by a 2.5-liter in-line six-cylinder naturally aspirated engine, which generates an output of 170 hp, which in turn is transmitted to the rear wheels via a 5-speed manual transmission. In August 2021, a final maintenance took place, at Km-Stand 120,000 the timing belt was renewed and the cylinder head came completely new. The seller mentions that this BMW has been continuously subjected to its service and defects in the technology are currently not to be listed.
A well-preserved condition can be attested to the underbody of this BMW Z1 from 1990, as there are apparently no deficits. This roadster is suitable for all those who are looking for a unique selling point in a classic and at the same time want to experience the maximum of fresh air feeling with the doors shut down.

Da der Z1 nur wenige Monate zugelassen ist hat es sich bis jetzt nicht gelohnt. Dazu kommt das größere Nummernschild, also einfach aus Präferenzgründen
