Mercedes Benz 600 W100 (1966)

Louis Kalendruschat

Kickdown's Take

by Louis Kalendruschat

To this day, the W100 remains the ultimate state limousine. Anyone who wants to travel like a king or head of state has the opportunity to do so in the W100 – if they can get their hands on one of these rare vehicles. The 600 series is traded at correspondingly high prices. The model offered here is one of the oldest surviving examples in an extremely attractive color combination. With an H license plate, TÜV certification, and ready to drive, this grand Benz is looking forward to its new owner.

Model history

The origins of the Mercedes-Benz 600 date back to the mid-1950s. Under the leadership of Fritz Nallinger, Daimler-Benz developed a vision for a luxury sedan that represented the cutting edge of technology. Even during the development phase, the 600 was equipped with air suspension, automatic transmission, power steering, and power brakes, among other features.
By 1960, the design had been finalized, and a total of twelve prototypes had undergone extensive testing, on the basis of which the final specifications were determined. The result was a luxury sedan that was exceptional in both technical and representative terms and set new standards in automotive engineering.
