Volkswagen Käfer (1968)

Vehicle description

Model history:

After the "Pretzel Beetle" and the Ovali, the Volkswagen Beetle mutated in 1957 externally into the archetype of the Wolfsburg endurance runner, which in principle was valid until the final end of production. A larger windscreen and the now rectangular, large rear window finally brought higher practicality. From 1960, the export Beetle was equipped with a new 34 hp engine with 1,200 cc displacement, the next step in development was marked in 1965 by the VW 1300 with 1.3l engine and 40 hp. Over time, VW finally modified the front and rear axle suspensions, which took into account increased demands on driving performance and driving safety.

General information about the vehicle:

The VW Beetle offered for auction in this auction is a VW Beetle from 1968, which is an import from Brazil and has the VIN B8519174. Only 1 owner should have this car according to the seller, from the matching numbers is assumed - but an exact history of the Beetle can not be presented. The VW has a valid technical approval until June 2024 and the car may already carry an H license plate.

Exterior colour/varnish/body:

Brown is the basic color of this VW Beetle offered for auction, the two-tone paint in brown / beige suits the Beetle very well and provides a contemporary look. A repainting of the vehicle took place after consultation with the seller completely, but an accident can be ruled out by the seller. All chrome trim parts on the VW are preserved in brilliant condition and all attachments are apparently completely preserved. For more details, please have a look at the other photos and videos.

Exterior rims/brakes/chassis:

Whitewall tires, together with original steel rims, on which chrome hubcaps with the "VW" logo are embossed, ensure the further external appearance of this Beetle. The seller mentions that the tires are new and the condition of the brakes is at a level of 70-90%. On the chassis side, the current owner is not aware of any inconsistencies.

Interior:

In keeping with the exterior colour, the interior of the VW Beetle is also kept in brown and beige: The imitation leather seats, door panels and the footwell carpet are in dark brown colour and the 2-spoke steering wheel as well as the steering column and the gear lever are painted in beige colour. Gross signs of wear or even missing parts can obviously not be criticized in the interior of the vehicle - in view of the vehicle age of now almost 55 years, the interior is to be attested to a very good condition. The equipment highlight of this Beetle is the brown folding roof, which can be easily opened and closed again.

Mileage:

Due to the fact that there is no history of the Beetle, the mileage of the car can no longer be traced exactly. According to the seller, all instruments as well as displays and controls are given in full functionality.

Engine:

The 1.3-liter air-cooled boxer engine in the rear of the Beetle delivers 34 hp - the power is delivered to the rear axle via a 4-speed gearbox. The VW was last subjected to a final service in August 2023.

Subsoil:

According to the seller, only slight flash rust is to be complained about on the underbody of the car - on the whole, however, this shows a rock-solid substance. The Beetle embodies a piece of German automotive history like no other automobile, even if only in quantitative terms. He awakens childhood and youth memories and is a popular figure worldwide. The VW Beetle from 1968 offered here is particularly popular due to its all-round good condition and the noble color combination.
