Model history

The Mercedes-Benz 380 SEC was offered as a coupé in the S-Class C126 series from October 1981. With its floor assembly shortened by 85 mm compared to the sedan, missing B-pillars, and fully retractable side windows, it embodies a stylish luxury coupé. The safety structure was specially adapted, as was the design: an integrated radiator grille with a large star, modified headlights, and an accentuated rear design clearly distinguished it from the sedan. The SEC was available exclusively with V8 engines and was positioned above the sedans in terms of equipment and price. The C126 remained in the range until 1991, when it was replaced by the C140.
