Model history
With the Mercedes-Benz R 107 series SL, luxury finally found its way into the SL class. The sporty gullwing door and agile pagoda had become a comfortable sports car. With its padded dashboard, steering wheel with impact absorber, and fuel tank mounted in the crash-proof area above the rear axle, the new SL offered modern safety features. In addition, low-soiling side windows and rear lights provided added safety. Customers at the time could choose between a wide range of six- and eight-cylinder models with various performance levels. The Mercedes-Benz 560 SL marks the final chapter in the R107 series. Built exclusively for the US and Japanese markets between 1985 and 1989, this model combines classic roadster styling with a powerful 5.6-liter V8 engine and modern comfort. The combination of superior handling, high-quality workmanship, and solid technology makes the 560 SL a sought-after classic today.

LG Tom
