Kickdown's Take

by Louis Kalendruschat

This W11 Coupé, a 280 SE, embodies Mercedes design in its most elegant form. The flat-radiator version is particularly sought after, and its initial delivery in Germany with an “H” license plate underscores the value of this coupé. With a Kurzbewertung rating of 2 from 2022 and a previous restoration, the vehicle is in well-maintained condition. The red leather interior features a beautiful patina, and the engine runs perfectly. A timeless classic for collectors seeking elegance and long-term value.

Model History

In November 1967, the 280 SE replaced the 250 SE. Equipped with the new 2.8-liter M130 engine, it produced 160 PS and offered noticeably better acceleration, especially compared to the larger but heavier 300 SE. The model underwent subtle visual and technical revisions: new heating controls, door locks, a modified exterior mirror design, one-piece hubcaps, and optional wood trim in the interior gave the vehicle a more modern look.

LG Tom
