The model variety of the Mercedes-Benz "Stroke Eight" (W 114/W 115) is unique for its time: all models added together result in a proud 19 different versions. Launched on the market in 1968 (therefore called "/8"), the elegant coupé was added just 1 year later. It debuted as the 250 CE with 150 hp and D-Jetronic. A year before the big '73 facelift, which among other things brought a wider radiator grille and fluted rear lights, the 280 models came with a double camshaft in-line six-cylinder engine. Of the just over 67,000 coupés produced in the W 114 model series, only about 13,000 units fell on the Mercedes-Benz 280C. Unlike the saloon, which was produced together with the W 123 for another year, the last Stroke Eight Coupé was discontinued in 1976.

Now it is possible to purchase a Mercedes-Benz 280C of the 114 model series from the year of construction 1974 in this auction. Since this /8 Coupé was originally imported from the Netherlands to Germany, the exact number of owners can no longer be traced, according to the seller. However, it is clear that the car with the chassis number 11407312102426 – for which there are still 2 vehicle keys – has already undergone a partial restoration. The seller mentions that matching numbers are available and the TÜV is made fresh before handing over to the new owner. The 280C is already in possession of an H approval.

In the course of the partial restoration, a complete painting of the body of the Mercedes-Benz in the color silver took place. An accident is ruled out by the current owner in his possession. This 280C already comes from the facelifted series, which is why it already has the wide radiator grille and the fluted rear lights. Also striking in this coupé are the square auxiliary headlights at the front. Defects in the exterior are not present according to the seller, even the chrome shines on the body as it should. With the exception of the auxiliary headlights, the Mercedes-Benz is also in its original condition.

The hubcaps of the steel rims of this 280C are colour-coordinated with the body paint: Mounted on the rims are tyres of the Vredestein brand, which are in mint condition. The current holder also declares the condition of the brakes as new. In the area of the chassis there are apparently no deficits.

Pure feel-good ambience can be discovered in the interior of the Mercedes-Benz /8 Coupé: thickly upholstered leather seats provide the necessary comfort, the blue interior colour in combination with the wood veneers for a soothing ambience. With the exception of a crack in the driver's seat cheek and the central section of the passenger seat, no deficits can be seen in the interior of the Mercedes-Benz. In addition to central locking and power steering, there are also electric windows, air conditioning and an accessory radio with mobile phone holder on board this 280C.

A mileage of 45,875 kilometers can be taken from the 5-digit speedometer: Due to the fact that there is no longer a history of the car, the overall mileage of this coupé can not be proven, but the overall condition of the /8 suggests a not too high mileage. All instruments in the interior have a full function.

If you open the large bonnet of the Mercedes-Benz, a 2.8-litre in-line six-cylinder engine stretches out towards the viewer, which provides an output of 160 hp. The power transmission is a 4-speed automatic transmission, which is designed as a steering wheel shift. In 2021, the 280C underwent a final service, defects in the powertrain are not present, according to the seller.
