Model history
The first VW T1 rolled off the production line in 1950; in the years that followed, this panel van was to become a true icon. Also known as the Bulli, it provided a unique combination of functionality and characteristic design at the time. Born from the vision of Dutch VW importer Ben Pon, the T1 made its debut in 1950 and quickly became a symbol of freedom and adventure. 1966 was a key year for the T1, when a number of technical improvements were introduced, including a more powerful engine. The widespread popularity of the T1 can also be explained by its versatility - it served not only as a means of transportation, but also as a symbol of the 1960s hippie lifestyle.
