The XLR was the name given by the American company Cadillac to a roadster built from the beginning of 2003 to spring 2009 - it was to be the top model ("halo car") for the Cadillac brand. In terms of appearance, the Cadillac XLV is reminiscent of the similar Mercedes-Benz SL of the R230 series and its predecessor, the R 129 - no wonder, since General Motors was targeting Mercedes-Benz SL customers with the XLR. The top model of the series was the XLR-V, which had a 4.4-liter supercharged V8 engine with an output of 449 hp.
