Introduction

In 1955, MG presented the MGA, a completely new model series that was to help the sports car brand regain popularity. Rounded, gently curved lines determined the design of the two-seater - nothing was more reminiscent of the old T-models. The A was based on a modern substructure, the longitudinal beams of which were bent outwards and reinforced by additionally placed crossbars. This design ensured a torsionally stiff construction. According to tradition, the rear wheels still rolled on a rigid axle, while they were suspended individually at the front. At the rear there were semi-elliptic springs, the front wheels were supported by coil springs. In total, more than 100,000 MGAs were built by 1962.

Now an MG MGA Coupé from 1958 with the chassis number HML4330253/7 is up for auction here. It is a restored coupe, for which, according to the seller, it is no longer known whether the "matching numbers" are available. What is known, however, is that this MGA has 2 vehicle owners and is ready to drive and registered without any problems. The MOT has been redone.

• Exterior and interior: The body of this MGA Coupé from 1958 is bright blue - whether repainting has already taken place is not known to the seller after consultation. In the interior there are leather seats and wooden trim elements, which also add color accents.

• Engine and transmission: According to the seller, the MGA generates 68 hp from a 1.5-liter inline four-cylinder engine - the power is transmitted by means of a manual 4-speed gearbox. A last engine service was carried out in 2022.

• Mileage: According to the current owner - who also states that the mileage is traceable - this coupé is said to have covered approx. 65,000 miles since its delivery in 1958.

• Documentation: Among other things, German registration papers are available for the history of this car.

• New disc brakes have recently been installed on the front axle.
