Model history

The VW Beetle 1303 LS, also known as the Super Beetle, represented a further developed and improved version of the classic Beetle in 1976. The 1303 LS was first introduced in 1972 and was characterized by its modern MacPherson strut front axle, which offered improved handling. The 1976 model year retained these technical improvements and was equipped with a 1.6 liter air-cooled boxer engine that produced 50 hp. The 1303 LS also featured larger, curved windscreens and improved interior comfort. The vehicle combined the iconic Beetle shape with technical improvements that made it more comfortable and safer. The 1303 LS remained a popular model with Beetle fans worldwide until the end of its production run.
