At the IAA in Frankfurt in 1989, the BMW 8 Series (internal designation E31) was presented to the public at the BMW stand: The 2+2-seater coupé with its optional 8- or 12-cylinder engine was located in a significantly higher market segment than the old 6 Series Coupé series, which had been phased out in the same year. With its elegant appearance and highly cultivated sportiness, the 8 Series immediately created numerous friends. As models there was the 840i, 840Ci, 850i, 850Ci and as an absolute top model the 850CSi, which offered a proud 380 hp. A total of over 30,000 of all models were produced by the end of production in 1999.

The BMW released for auction in this auction is an 850Ci from the year of construction 1991. This car from the E31 series has the FIN WBAEG21090CB05260 and was imported from Japan. A total of only 2 owners came into possession of this coupé, according to the seller, the car should still have matching numbers. A complete checkbook is available and serves to trace the history of the vehicle and to prove the kilometers. The 850Ci is already in possession of an H-approval, the TÜV runs until October 2022.

The body design of the 8 Series E31 is elegant and sporty at the same time, the delicate BMW kidney grille, like the entire front end, is based on that of the BMW M1. The coupés of the 8 Series also feature the so-called "Hofmeister kink" in the C-pillar. Whether the body of the car has ever been repainted, the seller is not sure – in any case, the paint in the color called "glacier blue" impresses with its all-round good condition and an accident is completely ruled out by the current owner. Damage to the body or modifications to the exterior are not to be enumerated, even all plastic attachments can be attested to an impeccable condition.

Pirelli tyres – which, according to sellers, have a condition of 50-70% – are mounted on original BMW multi-spoke rims. On the brake system, the current owner indicates the condition with 70-90%, in the area of the chassis no deficits are noticeable.

In the interior of the 850Ci you will find black full leather seats, which blend very well into the interior, which is generally dressed in black – only the footwell carpet is kept grey. When looking at the interior, you can not find any damage, missing parts or even rough signs of wear. All displays work, only the ABS light appears sporadically, according to the seller's statements. Features of this 850Ci include sunroof, power steering, central locking, electric windows, heated seats, electric seats with memory, air conditioning, cruise control and a BMW Reverse cassette radio.

On the display in the instrument cluster of the BMW E31, 60,240 kilometres can be read, which can be proven beyond doubt by a fully guided checkbook.

From a displacement of 5.0 litres, the twelve-cylinder engine in this 850Ci draws a whopping 300 hp – the power of the 12 cylinders is transmitted to the rear wheels via a 4-speed automatic transmission. Last service work took place in October 2018, according to the seller, no technical defects in the vehicle are known.
