Model history

The Mercedes-Benz G-Class was originally developed in 1979 as a pure off-road vehicle—robust, boxy, and uncompromisingly functional. It was created in cooperation with Steyr-Daimler-Puch in Austria, where it is still produced today. The G280 offered here belongs to the first generation (W460), which is considered a classic of the series. With its characteristic design, selectable all-wheel drive, and durable six-cylinder engine, this model epitomizes the origins of the G-Class. Later generations underwent technical refinements, but visually, the original design remained virtually unchanged for decades—one reason why early W460 models are now considered particularly authentic and sought-after.

No chassis photos? Is there any evidence of corrosion, painted/coated over anywhere or bubbled paint? Is the reat seat still available?
