Technik: Im Jahr 2008 wurde die Modellreihe einem Facelift unterzogen (im Sprachgebrauch sodann 997.2 bzw. 997 MK2 genannt): Die Lufteinlässe und Stoßfänger wurden geändert und erstmals im 911 sind die Rückleuchten, Blinker, Bremslichter und das Tagfahr- und Positionslicht (Standlicht) mit Leuchtdioden ausgeführt. Eine weitere Neuerung sind die serienmäßigen Bi-Xenon-Scheinwerfer sowie das optionale Kurvenlicht. Die allradgetriebenen Modelle Carrera 4, Carrera 4S sowie Targa 4 und Targa 4S haben jetzt eine rote Leiste zwischen den Rückleuchten. Die größte Veränderung fand beim Antrieb statt: Die völlig neu konstruierten DFI-Motoren (Direct Fuel Injection) arbeiten mit Benzindirekteinspritzung. Porsche gibt eine höhere Leistung bei gleichzeitig verringertem Verbrauch an.
