Porsche 911 993 Targa (1997)

Louis Kalendruschat

Kickdown's Take

by Louis Kalendruschat

This 993 is a highly sought-after and rare Targa. The fact that it also has a manual transmission makes it even more desirable. Its low mileage of just about 53,000 miles is verifiable, making this 993 extremely appealing to collectors. A true collector's item!

Vehicle description

For sale is a 1997 Porsche 911 (993) Targa in Arctic Silver Metallic with a blue leather interior.

Highlights

  • Rare Targa: fewer than 5,000 units produced
  • Sought-after manual transmission in a classic color combination
  • The current owner has owned the car for over 17 years—he previously lived in the U.S. for over 10 years and purchased the Porsche there. The car has always been stored in a garage
  • The first owner was a Porsche dealership in White Plains, New York. The second owner drove the car until July 2008, when the current owner took it over with 38,600 miles
  • The car has always been regularly serviced, carefully warmed up, and driven exclusively in good weather. All necessary work was carried out immediately to maintain its excellent condition—a true collector’s car. (A minor service is due this year)
  • Classic Data rating: 2+ (2024)
  • Only 53,450 miles
  • Accident-free. The rear right fender was repainted due to a small scratch. Minor stone chips on the front bumper and a small dent under the rear bumper (see Classic Data rating)
  • New tires
  • Bilstein rear shock absorbers
  • McIntosh sound system in the front trunk – professionally installed by a German engineer for approximately $5,000
  • Blaupunkt Cascade CD radio with navigation and hands-free system
  • Original leather logbook & service booklet with service history
  • Leitz binder containing all invoices from the past 17+ years
  • 3 keys available
  • TÜV will be renewed upon sale

Model History

The Porsche 993 represents the final iteration of the air-cooled 911 series and is regarded by connoisseurs as one of the best classic 911s. The model offered here, featuring a 6-speed manual transmission, a 286-hp air-cooled boxer engine, and the VarioRam system, embodies pure driving pleasure and technical sophistication. It is also a particularly rare Targa variant.
