Technik: Technisch von der Vorgängerserie wenig abweichend, wurde mit dem letzten Werk des Porsche-Chefdesigners Harm Lagaay eine Änderung präsentiert, die für Diskussionen sorgte: die Wiedereinführung der runden Scheinwerfer. Diese Modifikation betrachteten die meisten Kunden und Anhänger der Marke als Rückgewinn eines vermissten typischen Merkmals des klassischen Porsche 911, da die kontrovers diskutierten und beim Vorgänger Porsche 996 eingeführten, sogenannten Spiegeleier-Leuchten hier wieder abgeschafft wurden und somit ein dem „originalen“ 911 (bzw. dem Porsche 993) ähnlicheres Erscheinungsbild wiederhergestellt wurde.
