After the aerodynamically groundbreaking S-Class of 1979 and the equally progressive and active Type 190 of 1982, the W 124 followed at the end of 1984 in logical consequence: Cd value 0.30, space link rear axle, consistently modern designed diesel and petrol engines. The W 124 deepened the new Mercedes philosophy in the traditional format of a spacious mid-size saloon. In 1989, the first facelift of the W 124 followed: among other things, the body was stylistically changed and the interior redesigned. The revised model range also offered new models: for example, a 3.0-litre in-line six-cylinder engine with four-valve technology was used in the 124 series, which came from the SL of the 129 series.

The Mercedes-Benz offered in this auction is a 300 E-24 in Sportline version of the W 124 series from 1990. Although this Mercedes-Benz with the FIN WDB1240311B213449 is a German vehicle, according to the seller, this 300 E-24 was reimported from Poland. Although the history of the car can be traced approximately, the exact number of owners is no longer known to the current owner. Whether the so-called matching numbers are given is not proven. 2 vehicle keys are still available for the W 124, the TÜV runs until February 2023 and this sedan is already in possession of an H-approval.

Although the "blue-black metallic" body of this Mercedes-Benz shows a few signs of use such as areas repaired with paint pencil as well as slight scratches, but on the whole the exterior can be attributed an acceptable condition. According to the seller, the optical defects include the scratch-marked bumpers at the front and rear – furthermore, the radio antenna does not extend. The current owner is not aware of any repainting, and the current owner in his possession also excludes an accident.

Tires of the dimension 205/60 with obviously sufficient tread are mounted on so-called Mercedes-Benz Gullideckel aluminum rims, which in turn are in used condition with a few curb scratches. According to the seller, the brake system is in good condition (sometimes the brakes squeak when reversing), in the area of the chassis, according to the current owner, no defects can be recorded. After purchase, the owner had all springs, spring inserts and rubber buffers renewed. The shock absorber was changed by the previous owner.

A few traces of use can be taken from the interior of this 300 E-24: the front anthracite full leather seats are somewhat worn, the wood veneer in the center console shows discoloration and the ventilation nozzle in the middle is somewhat damaged (but the seller mentions that an original and undamaged spare part has already been procured for this). Missing parts in the interior or gross damage are not attributable to the Mercedes-Benz. After deciphering the equipment codes, in addition to the Sportline equipment, the following optional extra features must be listed in this W 124: Automatic limited-slip differential, outside temperature display, storage box in the front storage tray, electric sunroof with lifting device, head restraints in the rear, cruise control (currently without function), automatic antenna (does not currently extend), driver's seat with seat height adjustment, seat heating on both sides, electric windows front and rear, Air conditioning (needs to be refilled) and thermal insulation glass all around. Furthermore, there is a contemporary JVC cassette radio on board this W 124. According to the seller's statements, the loudspeakers in this W 124 only work partially.

The clearly structured instrument cluster shows a mileage of 200,930 kilometres. A history of the 300 E-24 is not available for the sake of traceability of the total mileage, but the overall condition of this Mercedes-Benz seems to correspond to the mileage read. The current holder also mentions that the KM meter unfortunately broke after the TÜV date.

This sedan is powered by a 3.0-liter in-line six-cylinder engine that transmits 220 hp to the rear wheels via a 4-speed automatic. A final maintenance was carried out in February 2021, the following parts have recently been replaced: chain, chain tensioner, strut bearings, rubber buffers, springs, fuel filters, cabin air filters, spark plugs, battery, tie rods, steering dampers, rubbers for stabilizers.
