Model history
The Audi R8 was introduced in 2006 as a mid-engine sports car, combining striking design with high driving dynamics. The first generation rolled off the production line until 2014, followed by a revised second generation from 2015 – with a V10 engine as standard. In 2019, the special edition "R8 Decennium" was released to mark the tenth anniversary of the V10. Production of the R8 – one of Audi's most iconic sports models – ended in March 2024.

Technik: Der Audi R8 (interne Typbezeichnung 42) ist die erste Modellgeneration des Mittelmotor-Sportwagens R8 von Audi, der im September 2006 der Öffentlichkeit vorgestellt wurde. Die Namensgebung beruht auf dem erfolgreichen Le-Mans-Rennprototyp Audi R8. Zur Gewichtseinsparung besteht die Karosserie des Wagens vollständig aus Aluminium. Von Herbst 2006 bis Ende 2014 wurden insgesamt 26 037 R8 produziert, von denen nach Angaben des Kraftfahrt-Bundesamtes 5626 Stück in Deutschland neu zugelassen wurden. Der Nachfolger Audi R8 4S erschien 2015. Zum Marktstart im April 2007 baute Audi den aus dem Audi RS4 bekannten V8-FSI-Motor mit Benzindirekteinspritzung ein. Der hochdrehende Motor (maximal 8250 min−1) mit 4,2 Litern Hubraum hat eine maximale Leistung von 309 kW (420 PS) bei 7800 min−1 und ein maximales Drehmoment von 430 Nm, das zwischen 4500 und 6000 min−1 anliegt. Das Drehmoment steht von 3500 bis 7600 min−1 zu 90 Prozent zur Verfügung, um genügend Leistung über das gesamte Drehzahlband liefern zu können. Der Audi R8 beschleunigt in 4,6 Sekunden von 0 auf 100 km/h und soll laut Audi 301 km/h erreichen. Das Leistungsgewicht beträgt 5,3 kg/kW (3,9 kg/PS). Mit der Einführung des V8-Motors im Spyder-Modell erschien Mitte 2010 eine überarbeitete Version des Motors, die maximal 316 kW (430 PS) leistet. LG Tom
