Model history
When Porsche unveiled the 911 Targa at the International Motor Show in Frankfurt in the fall of 1965, hardly anyone could have guessed that this model designation would become an integral and indispensable part of Porsche's history. Until 1967, the rear window of the original Targa model was not made of safety glass, but of a soft window with a flexible plastic pane that could be opened. Only then was a glass pane used. From 1973, the Targa was also available in the so-called G model alongside the classic coupé. Incidentally, the name Targa was inspired by the legendary "Targa Florio" road race in Sicily, where Porsche celebrated great sporting successes at the time.

Questions and Comments
LG Tom
