The Mercedes-Benz W 113 – better known as the "Pagoda" – was built from 1963 to 1971 and replaced the 190 SL. With its striking, functional lines, it clearly stood out from its predecessor. Its nickname was inspired in particular by the concave hardtop, which is reminiscent of Asian temple roofs. Technically positioned between the 190 SL and 300 SL, the W 113 combined sportiness, comfort, and everyday practicality – especially for the important US market, where a coupé version with a rear bench seat was also offered.
