Model history:

The DAF 66 was launched as a lower mid-size car in October 1972. Designed by Giovanni Michelotti, the successor to the DAF 55 was available as a sedan, station wagon or coupé. The difference to the predecessor was a new front design, whereby the bodyshell otherwise remained unchanged. In addition, the vehicle got a De Dion axle instead of a swing axle as the rear axle. Its axle tube was guided by leaf springs and a trailing arm. The continuously variable automatic V-belt transmission ("Variomatic") has been revised. Until now, it was typical for DAF passenger cars that there was growing driving resistance in tight corners. This defect was remedied in the DAF 66 by a differential gear. Another revision also took place on the clutch. The model was the last passenger car model on the market to appear as a DAF. After that, Volvo Personvagnar took over the passenger car division in 1975. From October 1975 to December 1979, the model continued to be produced as the Volvo 66.

General information about the vehicle:

Here is the opportunity for a DAF 66 SL produced in the Netherlands with first registration on 26.06.1974 in Germany (Stuttgart). The car has so far been driven accident-free by two family-owned brothers and is registered with H license plates ready to go for auction. During this time, the car stood in the garage for over 20 years due to illness. Over a period of about 10 years, a complete overhaul with original parts was carried out by a DAF collector/connoisseur from Germany. The spare parts for the DAF are still easy to get. The vehicle identification number is known under 6623925100 and the so-called matching numbers are assumed. A checkbook is available, but it was not kept completely. In addition, the Dutchman has a valid MOT until 05/2024.

Exterior paint/paint/body:

This DAF 66 SL offered here presents itself in a rich green and black trim stripes on the sides. The car is in a neat condition due to the complete repainting of the body and external modifications are not known. Only original parts were used for the partial restoration. The silver Minilite alloy wheels were equipped with new all-weather tires. The mounted rims can be driven with the popular classic car license plate without any problems. Interior:

The interior of the DAF 66 SL was kept in black and equipped with wooden details. The quilted imitation leather seats are in neat condition. For a look inside the interior, we recommend that you look at the photos. The Dutch mid-range car was based on solid basic equipment, additional luxury is not offered.

Mileage:

The speedometer of the DAF shows a low mileage of 17115 kilometers. The previous owners can track the mileage through the family property, even if there are gaps in the checkbook. According to the owner, the instruments work without any problems.

Engine:

With a 1.1 liter gasoline engine, the DAF has 47 hp. The car has a Variomatic gearbox (belt automatic). The special gearbox from the Dutch vehicle manufacturer DAF is a continuously variable fully automatic transmission. Most recently, the vehicle got a completely new exhaust, new spark plugs, oil and, during the recent service in April 2023, a newly overhauled carburetor.

Subsoil:

As can be seen in the pictures, the condition of the underbody is in good and rust-free condition. In addition, it is preserved. There is no further information on further defects or upcoming repairs.
