Introduction

The second vehicle, developed independently by AMG, is called the Mercedes-AMG GT - the sports car was presented in 2014, followed by the roadster variant in 2016. As is customary at AMG, each individual engine is assembled by hand by an employee at the AMG plant in Affalterbach according to the motto "One man, one engine" and finally documented with a corresponding plaque including its engraved signature. The 4.0-liter V8 engine sits behind the front axle and is therefore designed as a front mid-engine. The seven-speed dual-clutch transmission is mounted directly on the rear axle in a transaxle design. The layout of the sports car, its design and its positioning on the market are seen as direct competition for the Porsche 911.
