For the 1998 model year, the Type 996 designed by Harm Lagaay and his team replaced the almost mystically revered 993. It is almost 20 centimetres longer and almost ten centimetres wider – compared to the squat-muscular 993, it looks tall and slim. A wider body came with the 420 hp 911 Turbo, which brought it as Turbo S from 2004 even to 450 hp. The engine of the Turbo still has the so-called "Mezger engine" among Porsche connoisseurs and has a dry sump lubrication with separate oil tank. It also benefits from the 996-typical Vario Cam intake camshaft adjustment and, from the 2002 model year, from the Vario Cam Plus valve lift circuit.
The Porsche Turbo offered in this auction is a 911 of the 996 series. The vehicle with the FIN WP0ZZZ99Z2S680544 comes from the year of construction 2001 and was re-imported from Italy. Overall, the Porsche has 4 previous owners, a documentation of the vehicle is available due to a completely available and complete checkbook, in addition, some earlier invoices and TÜV reports for the 996 Turbo are available. Also available are 2 vehicle keys, the so-called matching numbers are assumed. On 01.07 a fresh TÜV was completed and thus has a validity until July 2024.
Slightly damaged at the edges are the Turbo 5 spoke alloy wheels. The mounted Michelin tires were reassembled last week, according to the seller. The perforated brake discs ensure rapid deceleration. Just like the new tyres, the brakes at the front were also renewed last week. In terms of chassis technology, no defects are to be listed.
Except for a repainted bonnet, this 911 Turbo still has its first paint in the colour "Arctic Silver Metallic". Overall, the exterior can be attested to an extremely good condition: dents or rust are not found on the body, the current owner also notes that the Porsche is accident-free. In addition, neither the front nor the rear bumper indicate a parking bumper and the headlights of the Porsche also show themselves without complaints and free of damage. Only at the front of the car can a few stone chips be detected. A fully functional electric sunroof in body colour must also be noted on the roof.
Grey leather sports seats can be seen in the interior of the turbo: apart from a few minor wears on the gear lever and the controls as well as on the control panel for seat adjustment, no signs of use can be removed from the interior of the Porsche. In addition to the already mentioned electric sunroof, the following features are also on board the 911 as equipment elements: power steering, central locking, electric windows, electric seat adjustment, air conditioning, ABS and a Porsche CR-22 radio. All equipment features are in service without any problems.
Characteristic of a 911, the five round instruments are within sight of the driver: 85,640 kilometres can be seen from the speedometer, which can be proven beyond doubt by a complete Porsche checkbook. In addition, the entire on-board folder with all documents and instructions is enclosed.
The 3.6-litre and 420 hp six-cylinder boxer engine in the rear of the 911 handles 560 Newton metres. As standard, the turbo distributes this power on all four wheels, and shifting is via a 6-speed manual transmission. Most recently, the Porsche underwent a service in June 2021.
Improperly performed repair work is not visible on the underside of this sports car – only a little oil loss is visible, but this is limited. According to the seller, a Porsche service consultant checked the oil loss and classified it as normal.
Porsche and Turbo – this is a combination that is actually almost inseparable. Offered in Arctic silver metallic, this 911 convinces with its low mileage, the subtle color combination and the equipment, which concentrates on the essentials. Whether it's a fast lap on the race track or a leisurely drive to the bakery around the corner: a 911 Turbo does both with flying colours.
