Model history:

The successor to the Pagoda SL (W113 series) was launched in April 1971. It featured clean, timeless lines and a slight wedge shape for improved aerodynamics. Design elements of the R 107 became style-defining for Mercedes-Benz's appearance in the 1970s; the S-Class (W116) introduced in 1972, for example, picked up on them. Around 80 percent of the SLs produced in the 107 series were exported, most of them to the USA, where the SL scored particularly well with its large-volume V8 engines. The 560 SL was developed specifically for this market. Due to the stricter crash regulations, the US versions had the protruding bumpers typical for the time, which lengthened the SL by a few centimeters.

In this auction, a Mercedes-Benz SL 560 (R 107) from first registration in 1988 can now be purchased, which was delivered with the VIN WDBBA48DXJA081278 and is a Canadian reimport. Special about the Canadian version was that the US crash regulations did not exist, so the European version of the bumper was standard. Also the temperature gauge in Celsius, KM speedometer and EU headlights. Only 3 owners are said to have called the Roadster their own, according to the seller - Matching Numbers are assumed and a partially kept checkbook is available on the Mercedes-Benz.
