Model history
Although it had a completely new look compared to its predecessor, Mercedes-Benz relied on tried and tested features under the bodywork of the 111 model series: the chassis of the Ponton was basically adopted, but extensively revised, including with shock absorbers set far outwards. The original chassis frame had become a cross member. In addition to the four-door vehicles ("tail fin" saloons), there was also a coupé and a cabriolet. The beautifully shaped coupé was designed by Paul Bracq. The filigree roof of the W 111 Coupé became his trademark; it also reappeared in a modified form on the 600 (W 100) and on the W 108/109 and W 114/115.

Comments of this past auction
LG Tom
