Model history:
With the 190 model series, Mercedes-Benz had an ideal technical basis in keeping with the brand's sporting spirit, which was revived in the early 1980s. The four-cylinder engine of the new sports model, which had been enlarged to 2.3 litres, received a performance-enhancing four-valve cylinder head, among other improvements. A number of plastic add-on parts including a striking rear spoiler and a sporty interior rounded off the package, which was unusually attractive by Mercedes-Benz standards. The 2.3-16 with its 185 hp gave the brand an enormous image boost - not least due to its later appearances as part of the booming German Touring Car Championship (DTM).
General information about the vehicle:
A Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.3-16 from 1985 can now be auctioned in this auction: This W201 with the VIN WDB2010341F137332 is a 2.3-16 coming from 2nd hand, which was first delivered in Germany and has been in a dry hall since 2010 according to the seller's information - therefore there is currently no TÜV for this vehicle and an H license plate for the car is not yet given. A detailed history of the Mercedes-Benz is unfortunately no longer available, because, among other things, there is no checkbook anymore - but partly the history of the 190 can be traced according to seller statements.
Exterior colour/varnish/body:
The body of the Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.3-16 is kept in "blue-black metallic": the current owner cannot say exactly whether repainting has already taken place over the years. Visually, there are some traces of time due to the mileage and age: There are rust spots on the exterior and scratches and other signs of use can be seen on the body. However, the seller can completely rule out an accident and all attachments to the car are preserved in complete condition. In addition, no modifications deviating from the original condition are to be criticized.
Exterior rims/brakes/chassis:
The DOT number indicates a high age of the currently mounted Continental tires - these should be renewed according to sellers for safety's sake. The brake system attests the current owner of the car a condition between 50-70%, in the area of the chassis according to him no defects are known.
Interior:
In the interior there are partial leather seats with a sporty checked seat pattern. After deciphering the optional equipment codes, this 190E 2.3-16 has the following features: electric sunroof, head restraints in the rear, central locking, level control, electrically adjustable exterior mirrors on the right, air conditioning, electric front and rear windows, heat-insulating glass all around, heated rear window, toughened safety glass and Radio becker Europa cassette. In order to get a detailed picture of the condition and all equipment features in the interior, we recommend that you look through the telling series of pictures of this Mercedes-Benz.
Mileage
This 2.3-16 has covered 358,000 kilometres since its first registration in 1985. According to the seller, the instruments and displays in the interior of the sedan all work.
Engine
The 2.3-litre 16V in-line four-cylinder engine of this Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.3-16 delivers 174 hp. Via a 5-speed manual transmission - in which the first gear sits on the left rear - the power is transmitted to the rear wheels. After consultation with the seller, final service work took place at KM stand 357,000. Recently, all liquids and oils were renewed, the ignition cables and distributors were renewed, and the spark plugs were changed.
Subsoil:
Of course, the more than 350,000 kilometers of mileage of the car on the underbody have not passed without a trace, but nevertheless, according to the seller, slight rust can be seen on the underside of this 190 - according to the information of the current owner, nothing has yet been welded. It is worth mentioning that this Mercedes-Benz - since it was parked in a dry garage in 2010 - has always been regularly moved with transfer license plates in order to avoid damage to the vehicle as much as possible. This 190E 2.3-16 represents a true survivor with incredible mileage that wants to be put back on the road - who will take care of this Mercedes-Benz sports sedan?
