Vehicle description

With the 318iS of the E30 series, BMW introduced four-valve technology in large-scale production in 1989. Years earlier, this performance-enhancing cylinder head design was already available in the M1 as well as in the M3 and M5 models, but in manageable quantities and manufactured by today's BMW M GmbH. The "little man's M3" was recognizable by its front spoiler and the spoiler lip on the trunk lid – as on the 235i. On request, the M-Technik optics package was available with a large front and rear apron, a larger rear spoiler and sill panels based on the M3. In total, just over 41,000 BMW E30 318iS were produced between 1989 and 1991.

Now a BMW E30 318iS with M-Technik package from 1990 can be purchased in this auction. This "M3 of the little man" with the FIN WBAAF91000AD20225 was first admitted on 11.07.1990 in Germany, a partially comprehensible story about the E30 is available according to the seller. Of the 6 owners who have been allowed to call the BMW 318iS their own so far, the last owner is, according to the seller's statements, a BMW collector. The car does not currently have a valid TÜV, an H-approval is also not yet available. In addition to 1 set of keys, the so-called matching numbers are available on this BMW according to the owner's information.

...

Thanks to the optionally available M-Technik package – which gives the BMW a large front and rear apron with a larger rear spoiler and side skirts – the body of the E30, which is kept in "sterling silver metallic", is a bit more stocky than usual. Over the years, the body has been partially repainted, but on the whole the paint of the 318iS is in a clean condition except for minor paint defects. The seller completely rules out an accident on the body of this BMW E30. Corrosion on the exterior of the car can not be found.

...

Tyres in the dimension 205/55 are mounted on original 16-inch BMW cross-spoke rims: According to the seller, the tyres are already old, various signs of use can be detected on the rims. The brakes, on the other hand, are in good shape. Compared to the 318i, the body of the 318iS is slightly lower: firmer Bilstein shock absorbers and generously dimensioned stabilizers contribute to the sporty character of the car.

...

As standard, the 318iS had a checked interior, an M-Technik leather steering wheel and an M gear knob to underline the closeness to the M3. In this E30 you can even find the sports seats with adjustable thigh rest, which are preserved in perfect condition. Slight signs of use can be seen on the 3-spoke leather steering wheel, the gear knob is heavily stressed. The rest of the interior can be attributed a well-preserved condition. This 318iS is equipped with a sunroof, power steering, central locking, on-board computer and ABS. The windows are opened by hand crank, a radio is currently not in the radio shaft.

...

The cockpit of the E30 is clear and tidy: 213,940 kilometres can be read from the car's speedometer. According to the seller, the total mileage of the 318iS is partly traceable through various previous invoices and former TÜV reports. All instruments, indicators, levers and switches in the interior of the BMW work perfectly.

...

Based on the four-cylinder eight-valve engine of the 318i of the M40 type, the 16-valve M42 was created: Thanks to a new suction and exhaust system, the output of the 1.8-liter four-cylinder thus climbed from the former 113 to 136 hp at 6,000 rpm. The individual gears are sorted via an easy-to-use 5-speed manual transmission. The seller mentions that only recently a small service has been carried out, but the BMW 318iS has been standing for over 10 years and should therefore be driven again. According to the seller, a small area of rust can be found in the engine compartment. A large service is still open, according to the current owner.

...

In view of the overall mileage of the E30, the underbody is in good condition. If you want to experience the four-valve technology in combination with high revving pleasure and sporty driving dynamics up close, but do not want to look at the expensive M model, a 318iS is definitely recommended as the "M3 of the little man".

Guten Abend.
