Model history

The MG B was introduced in 1962 as the successor to the MGA and quickly became one of the most famous British sports cars. The model was produced until 1980 and was originally designed as an open two-seater with a four-cylinder engine. In 1965, the MGB GT, a coupe version with a 2+2 seating arrangement, followed, while in 1967 the more powerful MGC with a six-cylinder engine was launched. A total of over 500,000 MG Bs and its variants were sold. After a break in production, the model was revived in 1992 as the MG RV8 with a modernized design and limited production run of 2,000 units, before the MG F was finally introduced as its official successor in 1995.
