Volkswagen Typ2 (1978)

Vehicle description

Model history:

A success story of a special kind was written by the VW bus, also known as the "Bulli". On the technical basis of the Beetle, the first buses and vans of the T1 series rolled onto the road in 1950. With the changed requirements and times over the years, VW reacted in 1967 with a new generation of Bulli, called T2. Larger, with modernized lines, various technical improvements and a boxer engine enlarged to initially 1.6, later 1.7 and 1.8 and finally 2.0 liters, the new customer needs were met. The typical qualities of the VW bus remained unchanged. It continued to impress with its hard-wearing nature and versatility - no wonder that this second generation of Bulli was able to stay on the market for around 13 years.

General information about the vehicle:

The VW bus offered in this auction is a T2 from first registration 04/1978, which bears the chassis number 2282104148 and which 3 vehicle owners have called their own over the years. The current owner assumes the so-called matching numbers, a valid inspection / TÜV is not available and, according to the current owner, the history of the T2 can no longer be traced due to missing documents. It is clear that the bus has already undergone a restoration.

Exterior paint/paint/body:

In terms of color, this VW Bus T2 is kept in a typical 1970s combination: red and white harmonize perfectly with each other and, in addition to the friendly silhouette of the car, ensure a sympathetic appearance. According to the seller, a complete paint job of the VW T2 has already taken place - the exterior is obviously in good condition in view of the vehicle's age and all attachments to the vehicle seem to be in complete condition. In addition, all chrome elements on the body are in a shiny state of preservation and modifications deviating from the original condition are apparently not to be discovered on the exterior.

Exterior rims/brakes/chassis:

The current owner of this VW bus certifies that the tires are 70-90% new - in the area of the brake system, the seller estimates the condition to be 50-70%. The rims are original steel rims in silver on which chrome hubcaps are mounted. Chassis technology, no inconsistencies can be detected on the vehicle.

Interior:

Brown imitation leather seats can be found in the clearly structured and large interior, which is obviously in a good state of preservation in view of the vehicle's age of 45 years - rough signs of wear or even missing parts are not to be enumerated according to the current owner. In terms of equipment, there is, among other things, a Sony cassette radio on board this VW T2 from 1978. All instruments and controls in the interior can be seen to function properly. In order to get a detailed overview of the condition of the interior and its features, we recommend reviewing the numerous photos of this vehicle.

Mileage:

A mileage of 95,107 kilometres can be read from the 5-digit speedometer in the instrument cluster. Due to missing documents, the total mileage of this T2 can no longer be traced. The displays in the instrument cluster all have a full function.

Engine:

Approximately 50 hp are generated from an air-cooled four-cylinder boxer engine with a displacement of 1.6 liters - this power is brought to the road via a 4-speed manual transmission through the rear axle. When the last service took place, the current owner of the car can not say.

Subsoil:

According to the seller, no negative abnormalities can be detected on the underbody. This classic VW Bus T2 offered here causes a sensation in today's road traffic due to its appearance with the distinctive color scheme. The many seats, the large storage space, the sound of the air-cooled boxer engine and the own driving experience are typical "Bulli" characteristics. This T2 from first registration April 1978 can either be used perfectly as a company vehicle / advertising vehicle, or serves as an iconic 70s VW bus for trips with friends / family to classic car meetings.
