After BMW's first post-war sedans got the company into trouble, the 02 series (originally referred to as the 114 series) was the real success story of BMW's mid-range models. The cars were powered by four-cylinder engines from 1.6 liters to 2.0 liters of displacement. The highlight of the development series was the 2002 Turbo. The most powerful 02 model below the turbo was the 2002 tii with 130 hp and mechanical Kugelfischer gasoline injection. The abbreviation "tii" stood for "tourismo internazionale iniezione" and was the further development of the BMW 2002 ti, which was equipped with a carburetor and produced 120 hp.

The BMW offered in this auction is a 2002 tii from the year of construction 1975. The 02 with the chassis number 2731665 was first registered in March 1975 in Denmark, passed through an unknown number of owners there and was extensively restored in 2020. In some cases, there are a few different documents and previous invoices, which make the history of the BMW almost comprehensible. According to the seller, there is a classic car certificate and there is still a key set to the vehicle. Danish documents are available for the car, the 2002 does not yet have a German registration.

In August 2020, an extensive mechanical and cosmetic restoration was completed for this BMW 2002 tii, whereby the car was also completely painted: As a color, the 02 wears a beautiful orange – The color scheme is uniform all around in the color depth, gross damage to the paint is not to be found. All chrome applications on the vehicle prove to be in good and shiny condition, no parking bumps can be seen on the bumpers, after consultation with the seller, the BMW has no accident. Scratches or even cracks on the windows are not detected on 2002.

Silver alloy rims in complaint-free condition are mounted on the BMW together with tyres in good condition. The brakes of the 2002 tii are also to be classified as good, no defects can be detected on the chassis.

Stylish black partial leather seats can be found in the interior: on these there are a few stains and on the passenger side cheek on the left shows a porous leather. On the side of the black center console holes can be seen, presumably something was attached here in earlier times, otherwise no major abnormalities can be seen in the interior. It is steered via a BMW four-spoke leather sports steering wheel retrofitted from the accessories trade. Normal traces of use can be seen in the interior, the triangular windows can be opened easily and the dashboard has no cracks. A contemporary radio ensures a good atmosphere in addition to the engine sound.

The objectively designed round instruments of the BMW 2002 tii are framed in wooden décor: In the middle is also the speedometer with read 12,572 kilometers, since the speedometer is only five digits, it is assumed that the total mileage is 112,572 kilometers. All instruments in the interior perform their duties without hesitation.

One of BMW's absolute milestones is the M10 engine, which also served as the basis for numerous racing engines. In this 2002 tii, the in-line four-cylinder with a displacement of 2.0 liters provides 130 hp, the curb weight is just under a ton, the proverbial joy of driving is fully enjoyed in combination with a 4-speed manual transmission. Neither the engine nor the transmission are defects obvious, the drive train runs perfectly. A final service was made only recently this year. There are currently no pending repairs.

The underbody of the BMW 2002 tii is a very good condition to attest, heavy rust or amateur repair attempts are apparently not recognizable.
