Model history

In addition to the eight-cylinder saloons and the dignified coupé, an open-top four-seater from Sindelfingen reappeared in 1992 after a 21-year break, with the internal designation A 124. The technical basis of the Mercedes-Benz convertible was the C 124 coupé, which was equipped with some additional sheet metal parts for strength reasons. There are also plenty of reinforcements in the A-pillar and in the floor panel. Another highlight: the electric seat belt remover in the short B-pillar stubs, taken over from the S-Class Coupé, makes it easier for front passengers to reach for the seat belt tongue.
