Model history

The Continental GT presented in 2003 was Volkswagen's first project since the Bentley takeover in 1998. The 2+2-seater coupé is based on the VW Phaeton and the Audi A8 platform. In addition to the chassis with air suspension, permanent all-wheel drive and the automatic torque converter, the British car also shares the basic features of its engine with its corporate brothers. In the Bentley, the engine was boosted to 560 hp through the use of two turbochargers. In 2007, a performance-enhanced version of the Continental GT called "Speed" was launched on the market. In the course of the production period, the output even rose to 630 hp in the Continental Supersports.
