Vehicle description

In 1968, Triumph presented its new model called TR6: Although the chassis was still essentially based on the predecessor TR4, the coachbuilder Karmann in Osnabrück ensured a successful design of the TR6, which gave the new Triumph model a visual independence. The previous TR models were always drawn by Michelotti. Especially in the USA, the TR6 met with plenty of appeal: these US models were equipped with two Stromberg carburetors due to stricter exhaust and consumption regulations, while the models built for Europe were powered by a mechanical Lucas injection system. Due to the very good price-performance ratio at the time, the TR6 brought the Triumph brand a complete success with almost 100,000 units produced.

Now you have the opportunity to offer a Triumph TR6 with first registration in December 1974, i.e. already from the 1975 model year. Delivered in California, the TR6 with chassis number CF23182UD was imported to Denmark in 2010, where it underwent a restoration. How many owners the Triumph has, is unfortunately no longer comprehensible, but the history of the vehicle according to the owner information on the basis of various invoices and so-called MOT reports (annual test of vehicle safety, roadworthiness and exhaust emission test) should be partially proven. The TR6 is currently not registered, it still has an American registration, but the EU import tax has already been paid. The car is handed over with a key pair. Worth mentioning are the given matching numbers and that this TR6 will be handed over with a new Danish technical inspection.

The currently accident-free Triumph TR6 shines in classic red, the paint was completely renewed in Denmark in 2010. According to the holder, the Triumph is visually in a state marked by normal use, but gross damage to the paint cannot be found. The black soft top presents itself in a damage-free and apparently crack-free condition, it can be opened and closed without problems, the hood mechanism works perfectly. In addition, it should be noted that the exterior is in a modification-free condition, the thick US bumpers on the chrome-plated bumpers are not pressed in and also the rear bumper does not suggest any former enemy contact.

In terms of chassis technology, the red Triumph TR6 presents itself in untinkered condition, the tires have enough tread and the brakes are in proper condition according to the owner. The classic alloy wheels in 8-spoke look have no major damage.

A lot of British style is to be expected in the interior: a real board accommodates the watch collection, the wood shows no jumps, the ignition lock sits under the steering column. The sporty Moto-Lita Volant, partly made of wood, is not damaged like the gear knob and is therefore in a clean state of preservation. The seats are made of black vinyl and fabric, they are crack-free, there are also no defects to be seen on the door panels, the footwell carpet has no stains. The tr6's equipment includes electric windows.

The total mileage of the Triumph TR6 is no longer known after consultation with the owner, the five-digit speedometer shows a mileage of 68,327. What is certain, however, is that all instruments perform their duties without any problems.

In the course of the restoration carried out in Denmark in 2010, the TR6 was given a new exhaust, as well as new carburetors and a new alternator. The engine runs quite clean and has no defects or disturbing background noise: It is a 2.5 liter in-line six-cylinder with a double carburetor system installed, the power is 104 hp. Shifting is via a 4-speed manual transmission with additional overdrive, which reduces the speed of the engine at high speed. In 2022, a final service and a general review were completed. The owner also notes that he adds to the Triumph TR6 a hardtop matching the body color, a luggage rack, a steering wheel, an original exhaust and manifold, as well as several spare parts.

The subfloor is in good shape: Since this TR6 spent most of its time in sunny California, rust is hardly present. With the TR6, the coachbuilder Karmann created a coherent, modern and yet timeless face that stands out from the crowd and yet convinces with typical British flair. The Triumph TR6 offered in this auction is a roadster in extroverted color with a color-coordinated hardtop, which will put a smile on the faces of the future owner through the soundscape of the in-line six-cylinder and unfiltered driving.
