Model history
As with the 964, Porsche built the 993 on an impressive variety of body styles. After the Coupé introduced in 1993, the Cabriolet was available as early as 1994 and one year later the Targa version of the 993 was launched on the market. Typical of the 993 are the extendable rear spoiler for all Carrera models and the flat front headlights. Compared to the 964, the smoothed body with the wide rear end not only looks much more modern, it is also stiffer. A total of almost 18,000 of the 993 Cabriolets were produced; the last air-cooled Porsche 911 finally rolled off the production line in Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen in 1998.
