Model history
The Porsche 911 GT3 was introduced in 1999 as a homologation model for the FIA GT3 Cup. With its 3.6-liter "Mezger" engine producing 360 hp, reinforced 6-speed manual transmission, larger brake system, and modified chassis, it was clearly designed for racing. The optional Clubsport package with roll cage and bucket seats brought it even closer to the racing versions and is still considered the beginning of the modern GT3 tradition at Porsche.
