BMW Z8 Roadster from 2nd hand checkbook hardtop 6-speed switch good condition (2000)
BMW fans were able to admire the new Z8 Roadster for the first time in 1999 in the James Bond thriller "The World Is Not Enough": The official presentation took place at the subsequent IAA, deliveries began in 2000. As an impressive classic with a discreet retro look, the Z8 roadster (internally known as the E52) continued a tradition of the BMW brand: it was a high-performance sports car for a pampered clientele. The stylistically hinted echoes of the legendary BMW 507 resulted from the proportions of the front end, the instruments and the eye-catching air intake décor that was already a topic of conversation at the 1955 IAA as an extravagance on the body sides of the 507.
General information about the vehicle:
1 of 5,703 BMW Z8s built is offered for auction in this auction: This Z-Roadster from the first registration in 2001 is an import from the Netherlands, which bears the VIN WBAEJ11000AF77595 and, according to the seller, has only 2 owners. The so-called matching numbers are assumed - the history of this Z8 can be approximately documented on the basis of a partially kept checkbook and the mileage can be traced. It is also worth mentioning that a Dekra valuation report from 2011 is available, which at that time had certified this Z8 with a condition grade of 2-.
The body of the BMW Roadster is silver metallic - according to the seller, repainting has not yet taken place, so this Z8 still has its first paint. The structure of a Z8 consists of an aluminum space frame with a screwed-on outer skin. Modifications to the exterior deviating from the original condition cannot be identified - in addition, all add-on parts as well as the paint itself are in very good condition in view of the vehicle's age. The black soft top of the roadster is undamaged - an original hardtop is also available.
Michelin tires - which the seller says are in condition of about 70-90% - are mounted on original BMW Z8 multi-spoke alloy wheels. According to the current owner, the brakes should also have 70-90% of their new condition. The chassis impresses with its good state of preservation.
In the interior, the Z8 is supposed to be reminiscent of the 1950s with the three-spoke leather steering wheel, each with 4 thin metal rods, the dashboard is inserted into the car. Except for a somewhat slightly worn driver's seat bolster, no defect can be found in the interior that could spoil the good overall impression of the car. At that time, a Z8 could only be ordered with full equipment: In addition to the full leather interior with electric seats and seat heating, this also includes airbags, alarm system, ABS, cruise control, air conditioning, electric steering column adjustment, hands-free system, headlight washer system, xenon lights, automatic headlight range control and a radio with navigation function. The function of the folding top can be described as flawless. For a detailed overview of the interior, we refer to the many photos of the BMW.
109,280 kilometers can be read on the digital display in the speedometer - which is located in the middle of the dashboard with the other round instruments. According to the seller, this mileage can be traced through a partially kept checkbook and all instruments and displays in the BMW work without any problems.
400 hp is produced by the 5.0-liter naturally aspirated V8 engine of the Z8, which is designed as a front mid-engine. A 6-speed manual gearbox transmits the power to the rear wheels of this roadster, the last service work took place in 2011 after consultation with the current owner.
According to the mileage and age, the seller describes the state of preservation of the underside of this roadster as very good. With the Z8, BMW paid homage to the legendary BMW 507 from the 1950s in terms of design - due to the small number of units of this Z8 Roadster, the car serves primarily as a collector's item for many. A classically subtle color combination and the first paint provide enthusiasm for this Z8 offered here, among others.
