The 124 series from Mercedes-Benz was presented for the first time in 1984, starting with the saloon at the end of 1985: Over the course of its ten-year production period, it was available with diesel and gasoline engines in four-, five-, six- and eight-cylinder versions. The original version was followed in the fall of 1989 by the first model update with more tinsel: namely on the door handles, the hubcaps and at the top of the so-called "Sacco boards" - the distinctive wide plastic covers above the sill. In the interior, there was additional precious wood on the dashboard and door panels.
