In contrast to the massively representative predecessor of the W 116 model series, the new Mercedes-Benz S-Class (W 126) presented in September 1979 was more graceful in terms of coupés. Slightly longer than the preceding model and provided with a slightly longer wheelbase, the timelessly drawn new model did not seem antiquated even years later. There was the S-Class of the W 126 series with a normal wheelbase and extended wheelbase (SEL). The smallest engine was the 2.8-liter in-line six-cylinder, at the upper end ranked the 560 with 5.6-liter V8 engine. A total of almost 900,000 units of the 126 series were produced – to date, no other S-Class has been built more often.

The Mercedes-Benz saloon offered in this auction is a 560 SEL from the 126 model series, which was first registered in Germany on 07.04.1988. According to the seller, this long version with the FIN WDB1260391A402296 from 1988 to 2003 had a managing director in possession, then the car came into the hands of a lawyer and then a Mercedes enthusiast maintained the W 126. The history of this 560 SEL is easy to understand, a checkbook and various documents are available. The existing documents also include a Classic-Data report from July 2020, which certified this Mercedes-Benz with an overall condition rating of 2+ and a market value of € 26,800. 3 vehicle keys are available, the last completed TÜV has its validity until December 2023 and this W 126 already has an H approval. In terms of body technology, a complete repainting in the original colour called "Anthracite Grey Metallic" took place in 2020, which is why the paint does not show any serious deficits except for minimal traces of use. The plastic elements on the vehicle can be attributed a well-preserved and at the same time undamaged condition, and the front and rear apron also have no defects. Cracks or scratches in the windows or headlights cannot be detected, modifications to the Mercedes-Benz deviating from the original condition are not to be found on the exterior. Tires of the Continental brand, which originate from 2019, are mounted in the dimension 225/60 on 15-inch original so-called "Gullideckel-Alufelgen". In terms of condition, the rims can be attested to an acceptable condition. In terms of braking, just like in the area of the chassis, no serious defects are recognizable.

The interior of this 560 SEL is luxurious: apart from normal signs of use caused by age and use, the interior with its black full leather seats has neither defects nor missing parts. The 4-spoke leather steering wheel shows just as few signs of wear as the automatic selector lever. Particularly rich is the equipment of this 560 SEL: electric windows front and rear, electric mirror adjustment, air conditioning, travel computer, traction control (ASR), electric rear window blind, burglary and theft warning system (EDW), fire extinguisher under driver's seat, heated seats for driver and front passenger, heated seats in the rear, electric rear seat, refrigerator, fax, contemporary telephone and a Becker Mexico radio.

216,130 kilometers can be seen in the speedometer: A history is available in the form of a partially kept checkbook, and various service receipts and invoices have been available since 1998. Even the original purchase invoice from 1988 is available. All instruments in the interior of this W 126 can be attested to a perfect condition.
