Model history

The fourth generation of the BMW M3 appeared in spring 2007 and was available in three body variants: coupé, convertible and saloon. Aesthetics, high performance potential and absolute suitability for everyday use characterized the new M3 models. For the first and, until now, the last time in the history of the M3, BMW used a V8 engine with a displacement of 4 liters and 420 hp in this model series. A completely newly developed chassis with its own, M-typical axle kinetics and predominantly aluminum, a more aggressively designed front end as well as horizontal "gills" in the front fenders, plus powerfully shaped side skirts, gave the vehicle a special character. Production of the fourth-generation M3 ended in 2013.
