Model history

The Mercedes-Benz R107 was introduced in 1971 as the successor to the "Pagoda" (W113) and remained in production for an unusually long time, 18 years. Its design, with wide H4 headlights and distinctive taillights, shaped the brand's design language in the 1970s. The SL was particularly popular in the USA – especially with V8 engines. Model updates from the 1980s onwards included airbags as an option. The R107 is still regarded today as a symbol of comfort, quality, and timeless design.

LG Tom
