In 1965, Burkard Bovensiepen began classic tuning under the name Alpina office machines: carburetor system, spoiler, chassis parts for the BMW 02 models and the BMW 5 Series built from 1972 onwards. Alpina became a manufacturer and courageous pioneer in technology in 1978 with the legendary B7 Turbo models and the B6 2.8. In 1983, Alpina received manufacturer status. In the 90s, Alpina also took care of the top models of the BMW 7 Series of the E38 series: Among them was the Alpina B12 5.7, which was built from 1995 to 1999 in an edition of only 202 pieces. Buchloer has long since matured into a globally active and recognized "manufacturer of exclusive automobiles" based on BMW.

One of a total of 202 Alpina B12 5.7 built can now be purchased in this auction: This is a sedan with the FIN WAPBC57L06RD30053, which was built in 1996 and, according to the seller, was imported from Japan. From the present history – which can be traced back to various documents – it is clear that this Alpina has 3 vehicle owners. In addition to the available matching numbers, there are also 1 master key and 4 rim locks, the main inspection can be done by the current holder before the handover.

External features of this Alpina compared to the standard E38 are on the one hand the deeper front spoiler, on the other hand the 4 exhaust tailpipes. As a paint color, this B12 5.7 has a special paint called "Dark Sapphire Blue Metallic". The Alpina has already undergone a complete repaint in the original colour. Defects in the exterior of the B12 are not to be found, nor can any trace of rust be taken from the body. As a modification, the current owner states that the front of the car has been converted to the E38 facelift front, otherwise there are no changes to the original condition of the vehicle. The seller can rule out an accident during the current holding period.

Bridgestone tyres from the 2017 production year in the dimensions 245/40 on the front axle and 275/35 on the rear axle are mounted on original Alpina 20-inch multi-spoke rims. The brakes can be attested to a very good condition all around, in the area of the chassis, the electronic damper control (EDC) used in this model and a level control with Fichtel & Sachs spring cylinders ensure impeccable suspension.

Plenty of leather can be taken from the Alpina interior: the entire interior is decorated with a wealth of leather, wood and details in typical Alpina colours (blue and green). The wood and leather come from the BMW forge and were then refined by Alpina. After consultation with the seller, various signs of use are present inside the B12 5.7: For example, a few clear lacquer cracks can be found in the wood and the leather from the driver's seat is somewhat stressed. On the whole, however, the interior can be attributed an acceptable condition in view of the overall mileage. The following equipment is on board this Alpina B12.

The equipment can be read from the original order form. The round instruments are highlighted in blue, and hands coloured in red provide a sporty attitude: this Alpina B12 has covered 198,100 kilometres since its delivery. The mileage seems credible due to the general condition.

The V12 engine of the BMW 750i is the basis for the 5.7-litre V12 found under the bonnet of this Alpina. Thanks to an increase in displacement, larger valves, Mahle pistons and modified camshafts, this twelve-cylinder engine now delivers 387 hp and a torque of 560 Nm. A 5-speed automatic transmission newly programmed by Alpina ensures power transmission to the rear axle. Thanks to the Switchtronic gearshift, the individual gears of the ZF automatic transmission can also be engaged directly via buttons located on the steering wheel. In April 2022, the last service work took place, according to the seller, the car was always repaired and maintained – defects in the technology are therefore not present.

The underside of the Alpina is extremely healthy in terms of condition: improperly carried out work or defects that could spoil the good impression are apparently non-existent. An Alpina B12 offers plenty of luxury, power and torque – the electronically controlled chassis ensures the right set-up no matter which road surface you are driving on. With the rich equipment of this B12 5.7 and the sound of the V12 engine, every trip with this sedan is a pleasure – in addition, the 12 cylinders always ensure sufficient power reserves.
