Porsche presented the 944 at the IAA in 1981: It was not a successor to the 924, but an expansion of the model range. Thus, the new model closed the gap that existed between the 924 and the 911 in terms of price and performance. At the same time, it was also the first time in Porsche's history that 4 different regular model series were offered (924, 944, 911 and 928). The key technical feature of the 944 was its four-cylinder engine, which was developed entirely in-house - this was effectively half a 928 powerplant. The basic model of the Porsche 944 was built until 1989 - of this model alone with the 2.5-liter in-line four-cylinder engine, a total of over 112,000 units were built.

"Graphite gray" is the exact color designation of the paint of this 944 after consultation with the seller, who also states that the body has already been repainted at the front panel and the sunroof. The current owner of the car states that there is a scratch on the driver's door and a slight bend on the left lower beam, where the jack once slipped.
