Model history

With the 991 series, Porsche presented a fundamentally redesigned generation of the 911 in 2011. For the first time, the body was manufactured using a mixed aluminum-steel construction, which enabled a significant reduction in weight despite increased safety requirements. Around 80 kg were saved on the body shell alone compared to its predecessor. The wheelbase grew by 100 mm, yet the 991 became lighter and stiffer overall. In addition to more efficient six-cylinder boxer engines with up to 12% lower fuel consumption, modern manufacturing techniques and revised aerodynamics were used.
