With the 124 model series, Mercedes-Benz brought a wide variety of models to the upper middle class from 1984 onwards: the saloon, station wagon, coupé and convertible competed side by side. Production began in 1984, and thanks to a discreet facelift in 1989 – recognizable by the exterior mirrors painted in body colour and the plastic side panelling – Mercedes-Benz kept its models modern. Finally, there was a second facelift in 1993, with which a new nomenclature came into force. Analogous to the S-Class and the new C-Class, the upper middle class was now called the E-Class. After more than 2.5 million vehicles were built, production of the W 124, which has since been renamed the E-Class, ended in 1997.

In this auction, a Mercedes-Benz of the W124 model series from 1992 with a 2.6-litre engine can be purchased. The first registration of this 260E with the FIN WDB124026B810912 took place in August 1992 to the police headquarters of Middle Franconia, in July 2012 this limousine was then transferred to the presidium of the Bavarian riot police Bamberg, then from January 2018 an owner was added. According to the seller, the checkbook is almost completely available and the matching numbers are given, furthermore there is still 1 set of keys to the car. TÜV has only recently been renewed.

The beige body has already been partially repainted, according to the current owner, these repaints probably took place in the area of the hood and the front fenders. From the condition of the exterior of this W 124, various paint defects and scratches on the body are present, time has not passed without a trace on the car – but on the whole no gross damage can be taken from the external condition. The seller also completely excludes an accident. Modifications deviating from the original condition are not objectionable to the exterior of this Mercedes-Benz 260E.

Kumho tyres in the 195/65 dimension are mounted on 15-inch 8-hole aluminium rims from Mercedes-Benz. In terms of condition, the tyres can be said to have a good condition with sufficient profile and the condition of the rims can be considered acceptable. Changes or deficits in the area of the chassis are not known to the current owner.

Black fabric seats with striped patterns adorn the interior of this 260E: the dashboard is crack-free, the door panels are undamaged, the seats are in good condition except for a worn flank of the driver's seat and the footwell carpet stain-free. The fabric comes loose on the headliner. All wood veneers in the interior have a good state of preservation.
