Daimler-Benz and the Austrian manufacturer Steyr-Daimler-Puch (now Magna Steyr) agreed in 1972 to jointly develop an off-road vehicle. This was at the insistence of the Iranian ruler Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, who owned up to 18% of Daimler-Benz shares. The car was intended in Iran for border patrols as well as a hunting car. In 1975, series production of the W460 was decided. The G was sold according to an agreement between Daimler-Benz and Steyr-Daimler-Puch in different countries either as Puch or Mercedes, different are usually only the brand logos, basically they are the same vehicles. From 1990 there were two models for different customer requirements: W 461 with selectable all-wheel drive and slightly reduced equipment for authorities, municipalities and armed forces as well as W 463 with upscale equipment and permanent all-wheel drive.

A Mercedes/Puch G 300 GE (W463) with first registration on 10.09.1990 in Germany is up for auction here. With only 2 previous owners and 60,936 km read, this G-Class was only moved on selected days. The G 300 was used as a command vehicle of the fire brigade before it changed to its current owner. This has three original keys and extensive invoices and TÜV reports that prove both the history and the mileage. Currently, the TÜV badge is still valid until September 2022, an H approval is not available, but an expert opinion. The current owner states that the G 300 is accident-free during the period of its keeping.

Externally, the G makes a very good impression, because it has been repainted, in plain white. The seller does not indicate any external changes or defects.

On the vehicle there are shiny original 5-spoke Mercedes alloy wheels, with very little traces of use. In addition, there are new Winter tyres of the Michelin brand with the dimension 205/80 R 16 on original steel rims. The chassis and brakes are, according to information, free of defects and in good condition.

In the interior we find well-preserved fabric seats with slight traces of use on the driver's seat. The dashboard contains many buttons and adjustment options, for example for the differentials, windscreen wipers, window regulators and ventilation. There is also a radio from Blaupunkt and a storage compartment. The center console is also well equipped with buttons for headlights, signal system and much more. Further back you will find the gear reduction. The equipment also includes central locking, ABS and power steering. The general condition in the interior is very good, smaller traces on the dashboard or the rubber seal of the rear door, driver's side, are part of this vehicle. In the trunk we find two very well preserved emergency seats that can be folded in and out.

In the cockpit, 60,936 km can be read and are documented by invoices and vehicle history. According to the seller, all instruments and ads work without restrictions.

The engine of the G 300 GE is an in-line six-cylinder petrol engine from Mercedes with 2960 cc and 125 kW or 170 hp. In addition, there is a 5-speed manual transmission with reduction and three differentials that support the off-road capability of the permanent all-wheel drive. According to the seller, no repairs have had to be carried out so far and are not pending. According to the seller, the fire brigade has kept the service up to date. The subfloor is also indicated without defects. All in all, this Puch/Mercedes G 300GE looks very good. New paint, well-maintained interior, few kilometers and extensive history make it an excellent youngtimer.
