Model history

• In 1972, VW presented the 1303, the final stage of development of the Beetle. Like its predecessors, this was also available in a range of colors and trim levels. Powered by an air-cooled four-cylinder boxer engine, it reached a top speed of about 140 mph. By 1980, about 332,000 Beetle Cabriolets had been produced. Over the years, the Beetle enjoyed an ever-growing fan base and is now considered a classic collector's item.
