As the successor to the E9, BMW officially presented the E24 and thus the first model of the 6 Series at the Geneva Motor Show in 1976. For reasons of passive safety, the "Sechser" got a more stable sheet metal structure, compared to its predecessor it gained solidity. The formal aesthetic of the E24 comes from ex-Mercedes design chief Paul Bracq. The technical basis of the early six-series was provided by the five-seater E12 until 1982, later the five-seater E28 with optimized chassis formed the backbone of the luxurious Gran Tourismo. The power spectrum of the engines ranges from 184 to 218 hp, the M635 CSi was even equipped with a 286 hp four-valve engine. Common to all variants is the typical BMW temperament and good driving characteristics.

The BMW 635 CSI of the E24 series to be auctioned off in this auction is a year of construction 1985, but the six-seater with the FIN WBAEC510301275166 was first registered in Germany on 18.05.1987. To date, this sports coupé has only 1 vehicle holder, all keys and a large number of documents for the E24 can be presented for the traceability of the history of the car. Matching numbers are given according to seller information, an H-approval is already available, a valid TÜV this 635 CSI currently does not have.

Apart from a certain patina on the paint of the car, the exterior can be attributed a good used overall condition according to the mileage of the E24. According to the seller, over the years only repainting took place in the area at the rear left, otherwise the body – which is kept in the color "Alpine white" – presents itself in its first paint, which is why a few signs of wear and tear can also be found here and there. Externally striking are the chrome wheel arches, which are apparently still in acceptable condition. The owner states that in 1991 there was a slight rear damage to the left, but this has been expertly repaired. Of course, all documents are available for this purpose.

Fulda tyres of older production year of dimension 245/45 on the rear axle and 225/50 on the front axle are equipped with sufficient tread, according to the seller. The rims are 5-spoke aluminum rims – which are 3-piece – from the manufacturer Gotti. The condition of the brakes is stated by the seller as ok, in the area of the chassis Koni gas pressure dampers are to be taken as a modification. All original parts for the BMW are available and will of course be included.

Brown sports leather seats with leg rest adjustment can be found in the interior of this 635 CSI: Except for slightly patinated side bolsters of the full leather seats and a slightly stressed 3-spoke leather steering wheel and leather shift lever, no abnormalities can be taken from the interior of the car. On board the E24 are the following features: electric sunroof, electric windows, power steering, central locking, air conditioning, ABS, cruise control, on-board computer and a contemporary Blaupunkt Bremen SQR 46 cassette radio. All equipment elements have a flawless function, and all instruments in the interior of the BMW also work.

The speedometer of the 635 CSI covers 194,320 kilometres: the mileage of this six-seater coupé can be traced by cancelling invoices over the years and former TÜV reports.

The 185 hp engine of this 635 CSI has a whopping 3.5 liters ready, the gears are engaged via a 5-speed manual transmission and the power is transmitted to the rear wheels. The seller mentions that a service can be done on request. All inspections were carried out by the current owner himself, as he is a master mechanic by profession.

The underside of this BMW is extremely clean and contrary to the overall mileage of the car: Almost no rust can be seen on the underbody. A six-seater coupé of the E24 series combines elegance with comfort and driving dynamics, and it is also solid. The legendary M30 in-line six-cylinder naturally aspirated engine with sufficient displacement ensures relaxed cruising and fast progress at the same time – thus underlining the pronounced driving pleasure once again.
