Vehicle description

Toyota is one of the most renowned car manufacturers in the world. Many models of the Japanese vehicle manufacturer have found their way to Germany since 1971, and the three C's Corolla, Carina and Celica already caused a sensation in the 1980s. They shone with appealing appearance, good driving characteristics and high reliability, so that Toyota confidently prophesied in 1985: "Nothing is impossible". It is still the best-known advertising slogan in Germany today and the nimble Japanese cars of that time are still very popular today.

In this auction is bid on a Toyota Celica convertible from 1985. The vehicle, which was created from a coupé TA60 at the coachbuilder Voll, has a high rarity value and is in a very good state of preservation. It was registered for road traffic for the first time in Germany in March of the year of manufacture and has only changed hands twice so far. The history of the offered Toyota Celica is very easy to understand on the basis of the enclosed documents, in addition to vehicle registration and checkbook, invoices, expert opinions and TÜV protocols provide information about the activities of the previous owners. The lively Japanese is ready to drive and registered, the next presentation at the TÜV is only required in July 2024. The vehicle is recognized as a historic vehicle and has H license plates, the presumed match of the matching numbers should be verified again. The vehicle converted into a full convertible with the ID JT1CBTA6006009635 has remained accident-free to this day and will be handed over to the future owner with 3 sets of keys.

The Toyota Celica with the striking, retractable headlights presents itself in a bright shade of white. The black-grey stripe look on the side doors and the black trim stripes mounted around the vehicle also determine the exterior. The original color has been preserved and nothing is known about repainting, and there are no dents or dents on the body. In the front area, tiny paint damage and a small scratch caused by stone chipping exist in some places, but signs of corrosion could not be perceived. The vehicle has been extensively converted from a coupé to a full convertible by the body company Voll from Würzburg, which is why a mechanically operable folding roof is also part of the exterior equipment of this beautiful Japanese automobile.

The elegant cabriolet runs on original Toyota alloy wheels, Kumho Ecsta tyres are mounted on the front and rear axles. Like the brakes, they are in mint condition, and the chassis is also in good shape structurally unchanged.

The vehicle has covered around 175,000 kilometres in just over 35 years. This information can be read on the speedometer and can be traced on the basis of the numerous existing documents. All instruments in the vehicle are fully functional, no signs of failure of displays could be detected.

The interior presents itself in a friendly colour combination, in which bright red is combined with subtle grey. The leather seat set and parts of the trim have been extensively renewed, as well as the footwell is in good condition and additionally designed with floor mats. The cockpit has been preserved in the original and looks well maintained, in addition to the obligatory displays and controls, numerous equipment components can be found in the Toyota Celica. The cabriolet has a radio, in addition, a car telephone has been installed and some additional instruments such as hydrometer and voltmeter have been integrated. In the interior, no damage can be seen, only a discoloration in the sky of the folding roof clouds a little the otherwise excellent picture.

The Toyota Celica of the type TA60 drives with a 2T-B gasoline engine, which achieves an output of 86 hp (63 KW) with a displacement of 1.6 liters. The vehicle is equipped with rear-wheel drive and uses a manual 5-speed transmission, the functionality of which was confirmed at the last service in 2021. In general, no defects in engine or technology are known and also the underbody and the exhaust system present themselves without major corrosion infestation in a good condition.

The current owner has had several repairs made to the vehicle in the recent past in order to maintain the good general condition. The focus was on the renewal of the interior as well as the brakes and wheels, in addition, the battery and spark plugs were replaced, so that no further workshop visits are necessary at the moment.

The Toyota Celica is a true classic of the traditional company from Japan. Available in the first version in Germany as early as the 1970s, the third generation of the Celica TA6 Coupé enjoyed great popularity due to its appealing appearance and high reliability. The conversion to a convertible and the elaborate renewal of the interior make the Celica offered here a truly unique piece, as the coachbuilder Voll only produced 25 copies and the pleasant look of bright white and red tones is probably unique.
